German Scholars Organization e.V.

Description

GSO – German Scholars Organization is an independent, nonprofit organization established in Berkeley, United States in 2003 and based in Berlin since 2011.

For almost 20 years, we have been promoting researchers – always independently and on an equal footing.

We ADVISE researchers on career questions. We provide them with information and insights from the German job market, we support and mentor them on their career path – irrespective of whether this path leads to a university or other research institution, to an enterprise or nonprofit organization. Because our society needs the potential of trained researchers everywhere.

We CONNECT peers and experts in all sectors around the world and, together with our funding partners, PROMOTE them. Through our programs we help to ensure that researchers can operate effectively within society. We build bridges for them – to their next career phase, to peers and to their own research projects.

GSO is largely financed by nonprofit program-based activities with funding partners, i.e. we devise and manage funding programs that are financed by foundations. At present, GSO is funded by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung gGmbH, the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung, the Schader-Stiftung and the Dr. Wilhelmy-Stiftung. Alongside foundations also the Helmholtz Association and Max Planck Society support select projects.
